Beyoncé reveals she doesn't want daughter Blue-Ivy on stage on Renaissance tour as superstar opens up about parenthood, privacy and the 'suffocation' of fame: 'Raising three kids isn't easy'

One of the most memorable moments of Beyoncé's extensive Renaissance globe tour, according to some, was seeing Blue-Ivy Carter enter the stage beside her famous mother.

As the tour shifted from continental Europe to the United States between March and September 2023, the singer's 12-year-old daughter with Jay-Z became a frequent feature throughout her live performances.

However, the R&B star acknowledges that she was hesitant to let her oldest child perform on stage before her debut on May 26 at Stade De France in Saint Denis, where she stunned fans by dancing with her mother during performances of My Power and Black Parade, a song released in response to George Floyd's 2020 murder.

Beyoncé, 43, who is frequently eager to keep her life as a working mother and her life as a global celebrity apart, thought back on the unusual choice to let one of her kids to take center stage in the most public setting.

"Blue is an artist."  She told the October issue of GQ, "She has excellent taste in music and fashion."  She is an amazing performer, painter, and editor.  Since the age of three, she has been developing characters.

I didn't want Blue onstage, even though she's a natural.  Blue want that for herself.  She earned it by taking it seriously.

Above all, she had a good time!  Every night, we all saw her develop in front of our eyes.

The R&B diva, who is also the mother of six-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir, acknowledges that a prearranged choice to play 56 performances over five months, which coincided with her kids' school breaks, made it possible for her daughter to go on tour.

She stated, "I try to only tour when my kids are off of school."  I've always envisioned a life in which I could travel the world with my family and introduce them to various cultures, languages, and architectural styles.

It's difficult to raise three children. I adore it.  It's rewarding and reassuring.  My children accompany me wherever I go.  After school, they come to my office and join me in the studio.  They are rehearsing their dance.

Making sure my children have as much privacy and normalcy as possible while preventing my private life from becoming a brand is something I've worked really hard to achieve, she continued.

Celebrities can easily transform our lives into performance art.  I've worked really hard to protect my family and myself by maintaining my boundaries.  My peace is not worth any amount of money.
