LeBron James took a 2% stake in Liverpool FC back in 2011, it was worth $6.5M then…
Today, that stake is worth over $105.8M
LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers is well-known for his skills on the basketball court, but his participation in other sports may not be as well-known.
The American frequently expresses his admiration for Premier League powerhouse Liverpool on social media, and he has many reasons to support them.
For more than ten years, LeBron James and the Reds have been connected. According to Sporting News, he became involved with the team after striking a lucrative business agreement that further fueled his enthusiasm for Liverpool Football Club.
The basketball player and business partner Maverick Carter paid £4.7 million ($6.5 million) for two percent of Liverpool as part of a sponsorship agreement with Fenway Sports Group (FSG) at the time.
After being acquired, James attended a match at Anfield and was enthralled with the club's fan base.
"One of my life's greatest events to date! "These fans have an unmatched level of excitement," James remarked.
James became an official partner of the FSG ownership group in 2021, which resulted in an undisclosed increase in his ownership stake in the team.
Carter joined the organization as well and acknowledged that he and James always anticipated themselves getting more involved.
"Working with Fenway Sports Group for the past decade has taught LeBron and me so much about the business on a global scale, and we've always believed it would lead to something bigger," Carter stated.
"We are proud to be part of this iconic ownership group and are excited about the opportunities that come with that to continue creating change and empowering individuals of every race, gender and background to be part of the process."
