The 43-year-old Papaloukas, a two-time EuroLeague winner with CSKA Moscow, is retired, but his performance in the 2006 semifinal victory with the Greek national team over Team USA has made him one of the most recognizable basketball players in history.

Despite usually starting from the bench, Papaloukas helped guide the Greek national team to a EuroBasket championship in 2005 and a silver medal at the FIBA World Cup in 2006.  In both competitions, he was selected to the All-Tournament Team.
