‘It’s never too late’ Jay-Z helped Kelly Rowland reunite with her estranged father after 30 tearful years

Kelly Rowland has shared how her long-lost father's encouraging remarks from lyrical genius Jay Z gave her the courage to get back in touch with him. 

 After Christopher Jovett decided he wasn't ready for parenthood, the Motivation singer and her father became estranged for thirty years. 

 Doris Rowland Garrison, Kelly's single mother, raised her until her death in 2014 at the age of 66. 

 In 2018, the former member of Destiny's Child made the decision to communicate with Christopher and contacted her father.

But first, she asked her longtime friend Jay Z, who is obviously married to her closest friend Beyonce, for guidance. She remembered on the Today Show that he told her, "Love is all about risk."  You must choose whether or not to jump.  Will you jump?  He questioned me, "Are you going to jump?" 

 The 41-year-old Kelly did make the bold decision to meet Christopher in a hotel room in Atlanta, Georgia, where she listened to him chat freely for two hours.

In reality, there was always a part of me that was somehow missing, even though I had a fantastic mother who loved and supported me.  "My dad wasn't in my life for 30 years," the artist said. 

 "At that time, I believe I still had these feelings of "Oh my goodness, I have no parents," and it was like, "No, you do, you have one left," Kelly continued, referring to the passing of her mother. 

 A few years after giving birth to her first son, Titan, Kelly met with Christopher, who accompanied her for the interview, and realized that if she wanted to let her father back into her life, she would have to forgive him.

"I discovered that we are not flawless, and it devastated me to know that my children will be disappointed in me for some reason," she remarked. 

 Something that you obviously don't do on purpose.  You must make room.  It's okay if you don't get it right every time. 

 I had to be kind to my father.  As parents, we must extend grace to our parents.  No time is ever too late.  There's always forgiveness there.

Kelly and her husband, Tim Weatherspoon, have two sons: Titan, who is seven years old, and Noah, who is one year old. 

 Kelly and 52-year-old Jay Z are well-known for being close friends even without Beyonce. The two went viral last year after the rap legend was spotted getting pleased when she surprised him at the Harder They Fall premiere.
