Jrue Holiday says Giannis Antetokounmpo is one of his 'favorite people' as former Bucks guard recalls special moments

Even though Jrue Holiday is currently wearing Boston Celtics green, he will always treasure his time spent with the Milwaukee Bucks, especially with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Holiday spent three seasons in Milwaukee with Antetokounmpo, where they won an NBA championship in 2021 and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Holiday recently stated, "Giannis is one of my favorite people," while appearing on Paul George's podcast, Podcast P.  "I think we really, really complemented one another, especially him and me.  It was enjoyable.  I had a good time in Milwaukee.  I received my first chip.  That's my man.

On Friday, which is also Antetokounmpo's birthday, Holiday will meet the Bucks for the third time this season when the Celtics visit Milwaukee.

Holiday was asked to share anecdotes about Antetokounmpo by the hosts.  The Greek Freak's no-days-off mentality is what the former Bucks point guard thought about.

Holiday remarked, "He's a tough (expletive)."  "He permeates you completely.  There is nothing like what he does in the paint.  He puts a lot of effort into each and every game.  It is approximately 150%.  No game or practice has ever been missed by him that I've witnessed.

Before the 2021 NBA Finals, Jrue Holiday remembers a story about Giannis.

"Once we got to the Finals (at the first practice), he's going 150 miles an hour off a bum leg," Holiday stated.  We're all saying, 'We don't need you."  You are required for Game 1 tomorrow.  That is Giannis's mindset and his hunger, and it is evident in everything he does.  He'll do his best to overcome any obstacle.  He's not a good cruiser.  He's not sure how to relax."

Jrue Holiday makes fun of Giannis' thrift.

Perhaps his upbringing is the cause of that.  When Antetokounmpo and his brothers were peddling trinkets on the streets of Greece, they had to struggle for every dime.

Just eight days after suffering the injury, Antetokounmpo appeared to defy expectations and made a comeback to start the NBA Finals against the Phoenix Suns.

Despite signing massive contract extensions with the Bucks, Holiday claimed that this is the reason Antetokounmpo is still modest today.

"He’s also the cheapest (expletive) I know," Holiday said.  "He has a lot of money.  I believe that's simply where he began.  In actuality, he had money.  He still acts as though he has no money at this point.

 On Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday

During his tenure with the Bucks, Holiday was teammates with Thanasis Antetokounmpo.  Due to his recuperation from Achilles surgery, Thanasis was not re-signed by the team during the previous summer.  However, he has attended a few of the Bucks' recent home games from the court.

Holiday is a big Thanasis fan.
