Linkin Park revealed on Monday that their album "One More Light Live," which was filmed during their last tour with lead singer Chester Bennington, will be available on December 15. On July 20, Bennington, one of the band's original members, took his own life.
We dedicate this live CD to our brother Chester, who put his heart and soul into "One More Light," the band wrote in a social media statement. We joked with Chester when we were done recording the album that he had set the bar extra high to produce that alchomey on stage every night since he had performed so many times in the studio. Naturally, he embraced the task. We put on some incredible gigs together in the early summer of 2017.
Chester told us that, in his opinion, this was the best trip we had ever taken. He triumphantly dedicated himself to making these tunes come to reality. We would like to thank everyone who came to this tour in person. We hope that this live record will help others who were unable to see the enchantment that these performances were for the six of us.
The remaining members of the band performed a Bennington memorial show at the Hollywood Bowl on October 27. The band members were joined by members of Bush, Yellowcard, Avenged Sevenfold, Sum-41, System of a Down, and No Doubt. In between clips of U2 dedicating "One Tree Hill" to Bennington during their recent "Joshua Tree" tour, video messages from Metallica, Paul McCartney, Duff McKagan of Guns N' Roses, and Dave Gahan of Depeche Mode were played.
