During Pop-Up Week, a week-long musical event that featured artists surprising fans with unexpected concerts at unexpected locations, the band performed on "Good Morning America," which served as the event's climax.

On Tuesday, "GMA" crews spent the entire day converting the subway station into a rock royalty-worthy musical venue.  Additionally, over a dozen cameras were positioned to record the unexpected performance from every possible viewpoint.

"I'm a huge Linkin Park fan," a commuter who happened to be at the event told ABC News. "And I was walking home from work and here we are."

Soon after the event was announced on social media, hundreds of fans flocked to the metro platform.

During the band's microphone check, a fan broke down in tears and told ABC News, "His voice is just like...  My favorite band ever—I can't believe it."

Many commuters and fans joined in and sung along to the band's acoustic rendition of their hit song, "In the End," as they wrapped up their performance.
