Emily Armstrong: 5 Fun Facts About Linkin Park’s New Female Vocalist

Linkin Park has a new singer! During Dead Sara's livestream event in Los Angeles on Thursday, September 5, Emily Armstrong was formally announced as the band's new co-vocalist opposite Mike Shinoda.

Emily Armstrong: Who Is She?

Armstrong had previously gained the most notoriety as the lead vocalist and guitarist for Dead Sara, a band headquartered in Los Angeles. With the band, the 38-year-old singer released three studio albums, beginning with the self-titled debut in 2012. "Weatherman," Loudwire's Rock Song of the Year, appeared on that album.

The albums Pleasure to Meet You and Ain't It Tragic were also released by the band.  Dead Sara has covered many songs during their career, however they haven't covered Linkin Park.  They have performed songs including "Killing in the Name," "Freedom," and "Sleep Now in the Fire" by Rage Against the Machine, as well as hits by Led Zeppelin, Stevie Nicks, Nirvana, and The White Stripes, among others, according to Setlist.fm.

 Armstrong had provided background vocals on Courtney Love's Nobody's Daughter solo album before Dead Sara.  Armstrong and her Dead Sara co-members were given writing credits for the songs "Bones" and "Help Me" on Demi Lovato's Holy Fvck album in 2002. They also collaborated with Lovato on the latter song.
