Prior to the Wisconsin Herd's return this week, we were aware that there would be one Antetokounmpo in the house. However, the arrival of several Antetokounmpo family members, including the current NBA MVP, at Menominee Nation Arena on Wednesday night surprised basketball fans.
.
When his older brother Thanasis was selected to play for the G League affiliate Wisconsin Herd on Wednesday against the Capital City Go-Go, Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was present to watch him. The youngest brother, Alex, and mother, Veronica, of the Antetokounmpos, joined Giannis in the VIP box.
The Herd defeated the Go-Go 123-113, and the Greek Freak was among the approximately 1,700 spectators who attended the game. The Herd are already 2-1 on the new season.
After playing 26 minutes, Thanasis finished the game with 14 points and 5 rebounds. Dragan Bender scored 22 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in 30 minutes on Wednesday. Bender was also assigned to Oshkosh from the Bucks.
In November 2018, Giannis went to a Herd game as well.
Another brother, Kostas, played for another G League team, the South Bay Lakers, while they were in Oshkosh. In 25 minutes, Kostas scored 23 points to help his club defeat the Agua Caliente in Ontario, California.
The Herd will play the Raptors 905 at Menominee Nation Arena on Friday at 7 p.m. The Bucks will play the Chicago Bulls in Milwaukee's Fiserv Forum on Thursday at 7 p.m.
